Where it came from
Released in 2015 as part of the LEGO Star Wars line, the AAT (75080) was designed to coincide with the release of the Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace 3D theatrical run and the broader push for Prequel Trilogy sets. The Armored Assault Tank is a staple of the Trade Federation forces, and this iteration was specifically crafted to represent the vehicle as it appeared during the Battle of Naboo, featuring a rotating turret and elevating guns to simulate its combat capabilities.
The set was designed by LEGO’s Star Wars design team to offer a compact, play-focused recreation of the iconic droid tank. It included updated minifigures of Jar Jar Binks, a Battle Droid, a Pilot Battle Droid, and a Gungan Warrior, reflecting the studio's recurring initiative to refresh classic Prequel vehicles for new generations of collectors. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans for its accuracy and the inclusion of the Gungan warrior, which added significant display value for those recreating the battle scenes.
