Where it came from
The Street Sweeper set 60249-1 was released by The LEGO Group in 2020 as part of the long-running LEGO City theme. Designed to simulate the daily maintenance tasks of a bustling metropolitan environment, the set features a small, functional vehicle equipped with rotating brushes and a container for debris. Its development reflects the recurring LEGO City goal of providing accessible, realistic models that allow children to roleplay everyday civil service roles within their constructed urban layouts.
The design employs a minimalist aesthetic that prioritizes playability and recognizable form over complex mechanical precision. Like many sets within the City sub-line of service vehicles, it was intended to serve as a functional add-on for broader cityscapes. Upon its release, it was received as a straightforward, budget-friendly entry point for new collectors and a practical utility vehicle for established hobbyists looking to add detail to their LEGO municipalities.
