Where it came from
Released in 2023 as part of the Lego City theme, the Street Skate Park set was designed to capture the vibrancy of modern urban recreational spaces. The set reflects a shift in the City line towards modularity, featuring interchangeable ramp modules that allow builders to customize the layout of the park. It focuses on contemporary street culture by including specialized elements like a BMX bike and a skateboard, alongside a variety of minifigures equipped with protective gear.
The design process for this set prioritized playability and accessibility, aiming to provide a realistic architectural footprint that integrates seamlessly with other city-themed builds. By utilizing the modular road plate system introduced in earlier waves of the City theme, the set encourages children to expand their own urban dioramas. It received positive feedback for its inclusion of diverse characters and its functional design, which avoids overly complex building techniques in favor of robust, interactive features.
