Where it came from
The Stretchy at Work set, identified as 7496-1, was released as a promotional item within the LEGO 'Stretchy' line. These sets were designed to serve as functional, humorous desk accessories, reflecting a brief period where the company experimented with integrating household utility into its plastic construction system. The design aesthetic leans into a minimalist, early-2000s office-utility style, focusing on a character-based figure that doubles as a stationery holder or paperclip dispenser.
The pieces were intended to appeal to an adult demographic working in professional environments, offering a playful counterpoint to the rigid structure of office life. While the set received modest attention from collectors of niche promotional material, it remains a curious footnote in the brand's history of non-traditional builds. It is regarded today as a representative example of the eclectic, lifestyle-oriented products that surfaced outside of the core building themes during that era.
