Where it came from
Released in 1998, this Lego set was developed as part of a promotional partnership with Team Telekom, the professional cycling team that dominated the sport during the mid-to-late 1990s. The set was designed to capture the excitement surrounding the Tour de France and the rising global popularity of professional cycling, featuring the distinct pink and black team livery that defined the squad's public image during the era of Jan Ullrich and Erik Zabel.
The set consists of three cyclists and a service crew member, utilizing standard minifigure components modified with specific torso prints representing the team’s sponsorship branding. It is often cited as a notable piece of late 20th-century corporate branding within the Lego catalog, reflecting a period when the company experimented with niche licensing and promotional sets targeted at adult fans and sports enthusiasts rather than purely the core toy demographic.
