Where it came from
The 6317-1 Trees and Flowers set was released by the LEGO Group in the late 1990s as part of their DACTA line, which focused on educational resources for classroom settings. Designed to support early childhood development, these basic elements provided teachers with modular building components intended to foster creativity and spatial reasoning in young students, rather than being marketed for home consumption or specific narrative play.
This set exemplifies the functional design philosophy of the DACTA division, prioritizing simple, durable, and brightly colored geometric pieces that could be easily integrated into broader learning modules. While the individual elements reflect a standard design aesthetic consistent with LEGO components of that era, the set's reception was primarily characterized by its utility as a foundational teaching tool in primary education environments rather than as a collectible toy.
