Where it came from
The Turtle Protection Vehicle, released in 2022 as part of the Lego Friends theme, was designed to introduce younger builders to conservation themes through play. As a 4+ set, it was engineered with a simplified starter brick base to make the assembly process accessible for children transitioning from Duplo to standard Lego bricks, while maintaining the bright, welcoming color palette characteristic of the Friends line.
The set focuses on the narrative of marine life rescue, featuring mini-doll Olivia and a turtle figure, complete with a beach-themed rescue vehicle. It emerged during a period when the Lego Group was increasingly aligning its product designs with educational messaging regarding environmental stewardship and wildlife protection. The set was generally well-received by parents and educators for its emphasis on prosocial play and its straightforward, encouraging building experience.
