Where it came from
The Elsa character card from the Shimmering Skies set of the Disney Lorcana trading card game was released in 2024 as part of the game's ongoing expansion cycles. Developed by Ravensburger, the set continues the game's integration of iconic Disney intellectual property with strategic card mechanics. This specific incarnation of the character draws upon the established aesthetic of the Frozen franchise while adapting the visual language of Lorcana's unique fantasy world, where players act as 'Illumineers' summoning characters to restore the Great Illuminary.
The design of this special rarity card emphasizes high-quality illustrative techniques intended to showcase the character's magical abilities within the game's lore. The artwork reflects the collaborative process between Disney's character design teams and the game's illustrators, aiming to balance thematic fidelity with the card's functional role in play. Upon release, the card became a focal point for collectors due to its distinctive art style and its competitive utility, marking a significant entry within the Shimmering Skies collection.
