Héctor Rivera

Héctor Rivera, designated as card number 121 in the Hyperia City series, emerged during the mid-2010s as a cornerstone character in the urban fantasy tabletop scene. The set was conceived by the creative team at Ironbound Games to flesh out the narrative landscape of the eponymous metropolis, focusing on characters with dual roles in the city's complex political and magical underground. Héctor was designed as a pivotal, elusive strategist, reflecting a broader thematic effort to move away from archetypal hero tropes in favor of nuanced, morally ambiguous urban figures.

The character design was spearheaded by lead illustrator Elena Vance, who aimed to evoke a gritty, noir-inspired aesthetic through sharp lines and a restricted color palette of deep ochres and slate grays. Within the Hyperia City meta-game, the card is classified as a rare character, valued by players for its tactical versatility and high-defense utility. Upon release, the card received critical praise for its integration into the existing deck synergy, becoming a frequent staple in competitive play for those favoring control-oriented strategies.
