Tramp

The Tramp character card, numbered 122 in the Hyperia City rare tier, emerged as part of the initial expansion of the Hyperia City trading card game. Developed by independent illustrators during the mid-2000s, the set was designed to capture a gritty, urban aesthetic that distinguished it from the high-fantasy themes common in the genre at the time. The design team focused on a muted color palette and heavy line work to evoke a sense of desperation and atmospheric density suited to the game's dystopian setting.

Upon its release, the card became a subject of discussion among collectors due to its unconventional portrait style, which departed from the polished, heroic archetypes typical of the period. While the game itself occupied a niche corner of the hobbyist market, the Hyperia City series is frequently cited in retrospectives for its commitment to thematic world-building. The Tramp card, in particular, is often highlighted as a representative example of the series' moody, character-driven artistic direction.
