Ernesto de la Cruz

Ernesto de la Cruz, card number 120, stands as a rare character entry within the Hyperia City trading card game. Developed during the height of the mid-2010s urban-fantasy card game craze, the set was designed to capture a gritty, neon-soaked aesthetic that contrasted with the more traditional high-fantasy themes dominant in the market at the time. The card was crafted to serve as a centerpiece for decks focusing on political maneuverability and high-stakes social interaction, reflecting the game's broader emphasis on tactical bluffing over simple power scaling.

The character design itself was helmed by the lead art team at Hyperia Studios, who drew inspiration from noir cinema and classic metropolitan architecture to build the visual identity of the Hyperia City cast. Collectors and players often noted the card’s intricate foil detailing and moody color palette, which helped it become a sought-after piece for completionists. While the game faced challenges in sustaining a wide professional circuit, this specific card remains a recognized example of the set’s distinct, illustrative direction and the collaborative creative process that defined the Hyperia brand.
