Where it came from
Overgrown Defenses was released as part of the Illumineer's Quest: The Great Hunny Rescue set, a unique cooperative expansion for the Disney Lorcana trading card game. Released to bridge the gap between casual play and narrative-driven experiences, this set was designed to immerse players in a collaborative challenge against Ursula, reflecting the game's ongoing storyline. The card functions as an item within the gameplay mechanics, intended to provide strategic defensive utility against the set's formidable boss encounters.
The aesthetic of the card adheres to the distinct visual identity established by Ravensburger and the creative team at Disney. Featuring artwork that emphasizes the lush, tangled motifs of the Hundred Acre Wood, the design prioritizes a whimsical yet tactical atmosphere. Upon its release, the card was received positively by the community for its role in balancing the difficulty curve of the quest, serving as a functional staple for those navigating the Great Hunny Rescue challenge.
