Where it came from
Wasabi was released as part of the Hyperia City set, a collectible trading card game series that drew inspiration from neon-drenched cyberpunk aesthetics and high-tech urban environments. Created during the peak of the franchise's popularity, the card represents the character-focused design philosophy that defined the set, prioritizing distinct visual silhouettes and intricate mechanical details intended to appeal to both competitive players and lore enthusiasts.
The illustration for Wasabi was crafted by the studio's internal art team, who aimed to emphasize a minimalist, sharp-edged style that stood out against the busier card art common in the genre. Upon its release, the card quickly gained notoriety within the community for its super-rare designation, leading to its reputation as a centerpiece of the Hyperia City collection due to its deliberate scarcity and specialized role in gameplay mechanics.
