Where it came from
Admonition Angel was originally released in the 2010 Magic: The Gathering set Worldwake, representing a powerful mythic rare creature from the Zendikar plane. The card’s ability to exile permanents upon the landfall of a land made it a notable tactical inclusion for control-oriented strategies, earning it a reputation as a formidable tool for board state management in Commander and other eternal formats.
The Secret Lair version featuring collector number 154 arrived as part of the 'Artist Series: Johannes Voss' drop, released in 2021. This iteration reimagines the angel with Voss's signature ethereal, soft-focus aesthetic, prioritizing a dreamlike atmosphere over the more aggressive, martial art style of the original. The release was well-received by collectors who favor stylized, cohesive thematic sets, marking a shift in the brand’s focus toward art-driven, premium collectibility.
