Where it came from
Adrix and Nev, Twincasters first appeared in the Strixhaven: School of Mages expansion for Magic: The Gathering, released in 2021. The card represents two prominent students of the Prismari College, the school of elemental arts, and was designed to emphasize the theme of doubling creature tokens. Mechanically, the pair serves as an engine for players who focus on creating multiple copies of creatures, fitting the color identity of Green and Blue.
The 'Special Guests' version, numbered 156, features updated, stylized artwork that diverges from the original release. This iteration was curated as part of the Special Guests series, a collection of visually distinct reprints designed to offer players alternative aesthetic interpretations of popular cards. The design team sought to capture the dynamic, magical synergy between the two characters, leaning into a more illustrative and expressive style compared to their standard debut.
