Where it came from
Adrix and Nev, Twincasters was released in 2021 as part of the Commander 2021 set, a collection of preconstructed decks themed around the Strixhaven: School of Mages expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The card was designed specifically for the Commander format, featuring a unique mechanical ability that doubles the creation of creature tokens, which aligns with the academic and nature-focused themes of the set's Quandrix College.
The card was illustrated by Johannes Voss, a long-time contributor to the game known for his expressive and luminous style. Voss crafted the pair as a visual representation of dual-natured ingenuity, opting for a design that balances technical precision with a sense of playful arcane energy. Upon its debut, the card was widely received by players as a powerful staple for token-based strategy decks, eventually becoming a sought-after piece for collectors of modern Commander legends.
