Where it came from
Adventure Awaits was released in 2024 as part of the Foundations Jumpstart set for Magic: The Gathering. This set was designed to be an accessible entry point for new players, featuring a streamlined mechanical philosophy that emphasizes ease of play and core gameplay archetypes. The card serves as a thematic touchstone for the set's goal of introducing players to the sense of exploration and discovery inherent to the game's high-fantasy multiverse.
The card features artwork by artist Jason A. Engle, who is well-regarded for his atmospheric and immersive fantasy landscapes. In designing the visual language for this piece, the creative team sought to evoke the feeling of embarking on a grand quest, utilizing vibrant color palettes and iconic adventurous motifs. Upon its release, the card was received positively by the community as a fitting utility piece that captures the adventurous spirit of the Foundations expansion.
