Aerial Maneuver

Aerial Maneuver was released in 2013 as part of the Gatecrash expansion for Magic: The Gathering. As a common white spell, it was designed to support the Boros Legion guild, a faction characterized by aggressive battlefield tactics and a focus on creature combat. The card reflects the set's emphasis on high-energy, military-themed imagery and the mechanic of granting vigilance to creatures to simulate the tactical superiority of airborne units in the Ravnica setting.

The illustration was created by artist Dan Dos Santos, who sought to capture the dynamic motion of a winged soldier engaged in a mid-air strike. His approach prioritized clarity and movement, aligning with the card's function as a combat trick intended to swing the momentum of a skirmish. Upon its release, it was well-received by limited-format players as a functional, low-cost utility card that effectively emphasized the aggressive nature of the Boros playstyle.
