Where it came from
Aether Channeler was released as part of the Dominaria United set in 2022, serving as a tactical utility creature within the blue color identity. The card was designed to evoke the high-fantasy nostalgia of the Dominaria plane, a cornerstone setting in Magic: The Gathering lore, while offering versatile gameplay options through its enter-the-battlefield trigger that allows players to bounce permanents, draw cards, or create tokens.
The artwork for this specific promotional version features the distinct aesthetic of the Dominaria United release, emphasizing the character's role as a manipulator of magical energies. Created by illustrator Simon Dominic, the design focuses on clarity and atmospheric presence, aligning with the game's tradition of blending functional game mechanics with evocative, world-building illustration.
