Alien Angel

The Alien Angel token, numbered 11 in the Doctor Who Tokens series, was released during a period of heightened interest in collectible memorabilia tied to the long-running British science fiction program. These tokens were produced as part of a promotional campaign intended to engage fans of the series by distilling iconic monsters and characters into compact, tactile collectibles. The series leaned into a minimalist aesthetic, favoring clean lines and high-contrast imagery to ensure each character was instantly recognizable within the constraints of the token's circular frame.

The design of the Alien Angel draws directly from the Weeping Angels, the predatory extraterrestrial species introduced in the 2007 episode 'Blink.' Created by Steven Moffat, the Weeping Angels are defined by their ability to freeze into stone statues when observed, a psychological hook that made them a perfect candidate for a series centered on static, permanent collectibles. Upon release, the set was noted by collectors for its ability to capture the unsettling nature of the source material while serving as a durable piece of ephemera for the show's vast multi-generational fanbase.
