Where it came from
All-Out Assault was released as part of the Tarkir: Dragonstorm Art Series in 2024, designed as a premium showcase for the visual identity of Magic: The Gathering. This set commemorates the narrative arc of the Tarkir plane, specifically focusing on the fierce draconic conflict that defines its history. These cards were created to provide fans with high-quality, borderless representations of iconic imagery, shifting the focus from gameplay utility to the evocative world-building of the game's illustrators.
The artwork for this specific card, rendered by the artist Jesper Ejsing, emphasizes the chaotic, high-energy aesthetic central to the Dragonstorm theme. Ejsing sought to capture the visceral impact of an overwhelming aerial assault, utilizing dynamic composition and vibrant lighting to convey the scale of the conflict. Upon release, the Art Series was well received by the player community and collectors alike for its commitment to showcasing the intricate details of the game's creature and landscape designs in a format free from standard interface elements.
