Provenance

Where it came from

Amass the Components was originally printed as a common in the New Phyrexia expansion for Magic: The Gathering in 2011, later appearing in the 2017 Iconic Masters set as card number 41. The card was designed as a blue sorcery that allows players to draw two cards and then place a card from their hand on the bottom of their library, a mechanic intended to provide card selection and library manipulation in limited play environments.

The illustration for the Iconic Masters printing is credited to artist Bud Cook. In this iteration, the artwork leans into the high-fantasy aesthetic characteristic of the set, which was curated to feature powerful and recognizable cards from throughout the game's history. Like its original printing, the card is valued by players for its efficiency in smoothing out card quality during the mid-to-late stages of a game.
