Where it came from
Ambassador Oak was originally released in the 1997 Weatherlight expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. It was designed during a period when Wizards of the Coast was expanding the game's mechanical depth, focusing on creature-based synergies and thematic tribal elements within the lore of the Skyship Weatherlight crew.
The card was later reprinted in the Masters 25 set, which was released in 2018 to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the game. This set featured cards spanning the entire history of the franchise, and the inclusion of Ambassador Oak served as a nostalgic nod to the early years of the game's design, utilizing the original illustration by D. Alexander Gregory that emphasizes the rustic, arboreal aesthetic of the character.
