Where it came from
Annie Joins Up is a rare enchantment card released in 2024 as part of the Magic: The Gathering expansion Outlaws of Thunder Junction. The set serves as a genre-bending Western-themed narrative, depicting a multiversal frontier where iconic characters from the game’s lore converge for a high-stakes heist. The card specifically captures a narrative beat where the character Annie Flash, a hardened gunslinger, aligns herself with the set's central protagonists to face the escalating threats of the plane.
The card was illustrated by Joshua Raphael, who employed a dynamic, cinematic aesthetic to emphasize the character's signature magical abilities and swift combat style. In terms of gameplay design, the enchantment functions as a synergistic piece that triggers and enhances the abilities of other legendary creatures, reflecting the flavor of Annie serving as a reliable ally in battle. It was well-received by players for its efficiency in Commander format decks, where the card’s ability to amplify other characters makes it a popular choice for deck-builders.
