Where it came from
Annie Joins Up, numbered 191s, is a promotional card released as part of the Outlaws of Thunder Junction expansion for Magic: The Gathering in 2024. The set draws inspiration from Western genre tropes, reimagined within the game's multiverse. This specific card represents a narrative moment involving the character Annie Flash, a prominent figure in the set's storyline, showcasing the thematic cohesion of characters aligning for the heist-centered plot of the expansion.
The art features a distinct stylized aesthetic typical of the set's special promo treatments, emphasizing a bold, painterly look intended to evoke the rugged atmosphere of the frontier setting. It was designed to provide players with a visually unique version of a mechanically functional card, catering to collectors who prioritize aesthetic variety in their decks. Upon release, the promo was distributed through various organized play and retail channels, and it was generally well-received for its evocative depiction of the character's role in the overarching narrative.
