Where it came from
Armory Paladin was released in 2024 as part of the Magic: The Gathering Fallout Commander set, a collaboration between Wizards of the Coast and Bethesda Softworks. The card was designed to mechanically reflect the resource-heavy, gear-focused nature of the Brotherhood of Steel faction, featuring the Equipment mechanic to represent the scavenging and maintenance of advanced weaponry common in the Fallout post-nuclear wasteland.
The card features digital illustration by artist Jason Kang, who leaned into the distinct power-armor aesthetic synonymous with the Brotherhood. The design emphasizes the bulky, industrial silhouette of T-60 armor while maintaining the visual language of the Magic: The Gathering card frame. Upon its release, the card was received as a functional staple for artifact-focused decks, praised by players for its synergy within the aggressive, combat-oriented strategy of the set.
