Where it came from
Asinine Antics was released in 2023 as part of the Wilds of Eldraine set, a Magic: The Gathering expansion that returned to the fairy-tale-inspired plane of Eldraine. The card belongs to a cycle of enchantments designed to disrupt board states by manipulating creature types and capabilities, fitting perfectly into the set's thematic emphasis on tricky, whimsical, and often mischievous spells found in classic folklore.
The artwork for the card was created by artist Daria Shatalova, who leaned into the chaotic, playful aesthetic of the set. The design features a humorous visual depiction of a transformation, echoing the card's mechanical function of turning creatures into role-playing goats. It was received by the player base as a potent tool for control decks in the Commander format, noted specifically for its ability to neutralize high-threat enemy permanents through forced enchantment.
