Provenance

Where it came from

Assemble the Legion was originally released in the 2013 Magic: The Gathering set Gatecrash, designed as part of the Boros Legion guild, representing the faction's philosophy of strength through numbers and military discipline. The card was reimagined for the 2024 Universes Beyond: Fallout set, maintaining its core mechanic of creating an ever-growing army of haste-enabled creature tokens to reflect the theme of military mobilization.

The Fallout edition features new artwork by Bruno Biazotto, who captures the aesthetic of the series by depicting a scene of organized militaristic expansion. By stripping away the specific Ravnica-based imagery of the original and replacing it with visuals evocative of the Brotherhood of Steel or similar factions, the design intent was to bridge the gap between the card's established gameplay function and the iconic visual language of the wasteland.
