Where it came from
Audacious Swap was released in 2022 as part of the Streets of New Capenna Commander set, a collection themed around a sprawling, art-deco inspired metropolis ruled by five distinct criminal families. The card reflects the set's core narrative of backroom dealings and resource management, designed to fit the high-variance, social nature of the multiplayer Commander format.
The artwork, illustrated by Games Workshop veteran artist Games Workshop, depicts a shadowy figure facilitating an illicit trade. The visual aesthetic leans into the 1920s noir style that characterizes the entire New Capenna release, balancing the gritty reality of the setting with the stylized, magical elements central to the Magic: The Gathering universe.
