Auramancer

Auramancer was originally introduced in the Onslaught set of Magic: The Gathering in 2002 and was later reprinted as part of the core set Magic 2014. The card was designed as a white common utility creature, serving the mechanical function of returning an enchantment card from the graveyard to the player's hand. This ability, known as recursion, is a hallmark of white's mechanical identity within the game, emphasizing the color's thematic focus on restoration and protection.

The Magic 2014 version features illustration by Nils Hamm, who brought a ethereal, painterly aesthetic to the card that highlights the figure’s connection to mystical artifacts. Hamm’s design choices for this iteration leaned into a softer, glowing visual language, which contrasted with the sharper, more utilitarian look of the original 2002 version. Upon its inclusion in the 2014 core set, it was well-received by players in limited formats for its reliable ability to recover key enchantment pieces, maintaining its status as a staple low-rarity card.
