Austere Command

Austere Command was first introduced in the Lorwyn expansion in 2007, but this specific version was released as part of the Commander 2011 product line. This set marked the debut of the Commander preconstructed deck series, which was designed to support the burgeoning fan-created social format now known as Commander or EDH. By including staples like Austere Command in these decks, Wizards of the Coast sought to provide players with powerful, versatile board-wiping tools that balanced the slower, multiplayer-focused nature of the format.
