Austere Command

Austere Command was originally released in the 2007 Lorwyn set as a versatile board-clearing spell, designed to provide players with tactical flexibility by allowing them to choose two of four destructive effects. Its presence in the Amonkhet Invocations series, a subset of high-rarity 'Masterpiece' cards introduced in 2017, reimagined the card with a distinct aesthetic inspired by the Egyptian-mythology-themed plane of Amonkhet. These cards were designed to be premium, chase versions of iconic spells, featuring ornate gold-leaf borders and unique, stylized hieroglyphic-influenced art that set them apart from standard printings.

The Amonkhet Invocations were illustrated with a cohesive, monochromatic artistic direction that leaned heavily into the brutalist and divine iconography of the set's setting.
