Azusa, Lost but Seeking

Azusa, Lost but Seeking was originally introduced in the 2005 Saviors of Kamigawa set, designed by the Magic: The Gathering development team to explore the mechanics of land-based acceleration. As a character, Azusa reflects the flavor of the Kamigawa plane, depicting a nomadic monk who wanders the world seeking hidden knowledge. Her design, centered on the ability to play additional lands each turn, became a defining staple for green-aligned decks in the Commander format.

The 2016 Judge Gift version features reimagined artwork by artist Magali Villeneuve, who replaced the original aesthetic with a more ethereal and grounded interpretation of the character. This promotional printing was distributed exclusively to members of the Magic Judge Program as a reward for their contributions to the community. Because these cards were never available in retail booster packs, they became highly sought after by collectors who prize both the elevated illustration quality and the prestige associated with the judge program.
