Provenance

Where it came from

The Bag of Holding card was released as a promotional item for the Magic: The Gathering Core Set 2020. The card is a direct mechanical and thematic homage to the iconic Dungeons & Dragons magic item, allowing players to store and retrieve cards from exile. It was designed to provide a utility-focused artifact that rewards long-term resource management within the game's evolving meta.

The artwork for this specific promo version was crafted to evoke a sense of high-fantasy inventory management. The visual design emphasizes the mysterious, bottomless nature of the bag, intended to resonate with players who appreciate the intersection of tabletop roleplaying tropes and trading card game mechanics. Upon its release, it was well-received by players seeking versatile deck-building tools that offered persistent utility rather than immediate, aggressive impact.
