Bestial Menace

Bestial Menace was released in 2010 as part of the Worldwake set for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Developed by Wizards of the Coast, the set was designed to build upon the 'Landfall' mechanic introduced in the preceding Zendikar block, emphasizing the importance of land cards in gameplay. This sorcery card reflects the high-fantasy aesthetic of the Zendikar plane, a world defined by its volatile landscapes and powerful, awakened wilderness.

The card’s illustration was created by artist Jesper Ejsing, who leaned into the raw, primal energy of the setting by depicting three distinct creatures—a Snake, a Wolf, and a Beast—summoned to the battlefield simultaneously. The design intent was to provide players with a significant board presence in a single turn, balancing the card’s higher mana cost with a high-value output.
