Provenance

Where it came from

Blossoming Sands was first introduced to the Magic: The Gathering card game in the Khans of Tarkir expansion in 2014, eventually seeing a reprint in Core Set 2020 as card number 243. As a common dual land, it was designed to provide color fixing for players in Limited environments, allowing them to tap for either green or white mana while providing a small incidental life gain benefit to stabilize the early game.

The card features artwork by Dimitar Marinski, who utilized a lush, desert-oasis aesthetic to convey the card's theme of growth within arid environments. The design was received as a functional staple for budget-conscious deck builders and newer players, serving as a reliable, albeit slower, alternative to more expensive rare dual lands that enter the battlefield untapped.
