Bramblewood Paragon

Bramblewood Paragon was released as part of the Champs and States promotional set, an initiative designed to provide unique, often foil, cards as prizes for players participating in regional competitive tournaments. These cards were chosen to reflect the meta-game of the era, offering players tangible rewards that functioned as both functional game pieces and commemorative collectibles marking their tournament performance.

The artwork was commissioned from illustrator Jim Murray, whose style frequently leaned into the fantasy-nature aesthetic characteristic of the Lorwyn-Shadowmoor block. In this piece, Murray captures the stoic and arboreal nature of a Warrior-type creature, emphasizing the organic texture of the wood and the strength required of a Paragon. The design was received as a solid utility card for tribal-focused strategies, appreciated by players for its ability to bolster both its own resilience and that of fellow warriors on the battlefield.
