Where it came from
Burnished Hart was originally introduced in the 2013 Magic: The Gathering set Theros, designed to provide players with a colorless way to accelerate their mana production by searching their library for basic lands. Its thematic design reflects the mythological flavor of the plane, depicting a metallic creature often associated with the wilderness and the divine. The creature serves as a utility card, valued for its ability to sacrifice itself for long-term resource gathering.
The 71z version featured in The Brothers' War Retro Artifacts set pays homage to the game's early history by utilizing the distinct, vintage-inspired frame that defined the aesthetic of the 1990s. This series was curated to celebrate the mechanical depth of artifacts within the franchise, presenting classic utility pieces in a stylized format that evokes nostalgia for veteran players. The illustration retains the core iconography of the hart while adapting it to the unified visual language established for this special subset.
