Bygone Colossus // Bygone Colossus

Bygone Colossus is part of the Art Series released within the Edge of Eternities expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The card functions as a tribute to the game's expansive lore, featuring a piece of artwork that emphasizes the massive, ancient scale of the character. These cards were designed to showcase the work of individual artists by presenting the illustrations without the traditional game frame, effectively turning functional game components into small-format prints intended for display.

The artistic direction for this piece focuses on a sense of desolation and insurmountable history, reflecting the set's themes of lingering legacy and temporal shifts. The illustration was commissioned to evoke a feeling of awe, utilizing color palettes that suggest weathering and geological age. Upon its release, the card was well-received by collectors who prioritize the aesthetic components of the hobby, serving as a popular inclusion for those who curate collections centered on specific art styles rather than competitive play.
