Where it came from
Celebrate the Harvest was released in 2021 as part of the Coven Counters deck for the Magic: The Gathering expansion, Innistrad: Midnight Hunt. The card was designed to support the set's themes of communal growth and the cyclical nature of the harvest season, which are central to the lore of the Innistrad plane. Mechanically, the card was intended to provide green-aligned decks with a scaling mana-ramp option that rewards players for maintaining a wide board presence, fitting the 'coven' tribal identity.
The artwork for the card was created by artist Fajareka Setiawan, who utilized a warm, autumnal color palette to evoke the traditional festivals celebrated by the humans of Innistrad. The design reflects the set's aesthetic shift toward a gothic, folklore-inspired harvest celebration, emphasizing the interconnectedness of the community and the land. Upon release, the card was well-received by the Commander community for its utility in go-wide strategies, providing a thematic and functional addition to green-based decks.
