Where it came from
Celebrate the Harvest was released in 2021 as part of the Innistrad: Midnight Hunt Commander set. The card was designed as a thematic support piece for green-aligned decks, specifically drawing on the set’s focus on the cyclical nature of life, death, and the ritualistic traditions of the plane of Innistrad. The mechanical design centers on the 'coven' keyword, which rewards players for controlling creatures with varying power levels, reflecting the collaborative and communal spirit of the human covens struggling to survive the endless night.
The artwork was created by illustrator Wisnu Tan, who utilized a warm, vibrant color palette to contrast with the generally gothic and somber aesthetic of the broader Innistrad setting. The piece captures a moment of ritualistic gratitude, emphasizing the harvest theme that serves as a backdrop for the narrative of the Midnight Hunt expansion. Upon its release, the card was received as a functional, flavor-forward inclusion for Commander decks that focus on creature-based synergy and ramp strategies.
