Centaur Glade

Centaur Glade was released in October 2002 as part of the Onslaught expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Developed by Wizards of the Coast, the set was designed to shift the game’s focus back toward creature-based combat, marking a departure from the spell-heavy mechanics that dominated previous competitive environments. The card was created to provide a repeatable resource for players utilizing green mana, reflecting the set's thematic emphasis on tribal synergies and the expansion of the beast and centaur creature types.

The artwork for the card was created by artist Daren Bader, whose work has been featured across numerous Magic sets during the early 2000s. Bader’s illustration sought to capture the lush, untamed aesthetic of the game's woodland settings, utilizing a soft, naturalistic color palette to evoke the verdant atmosphere implied by the name. Upon its release, the card was received as a solid utility piece in Limited formats, where its ability to generate creature tokens over time provided a consistent source of board presence that players could rely on as the game progressed.
