Where it came from
Chainweb Aracnir was released in 2020 as part of the Magic: The Gathering set Theros Beyond Death. The card was designed to reflect the top-down design philosophy of the set, which drew heavily from Greek mythology. As a spider creature, the Aracnir evokes the myth of Arachne, the mortal weaver who challenged Athena to a contest of skill and was subsequently transformed into a spider.
