Where it came from
The 15th Anniversary card featuring Char Aznable was released in 1994 to commemorate the decade-and-a-half milestone of the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise. This commemorative set was designed to honor the series' profound impact on the mecha genre, serving as both a nostalgic retrospective for long-time followers and a collectible tribute to the most iconic figures of the Universal Century timeline.
The card features artwork capturing the stoic, enigmatic presence of Char, the primary antagonist of the original series. The design aesthetic reflects the mid-90s approach to anime merchandising, utilizing bold color palettes and classic character portraiture that aimed to synthesize the character's legacy as the 'Red Comet.' It was well-received by fans as a high-quality keepsake that solidified Char's status as a foundational pillar of Gundam history.
