Where it came from
Civic Wayfinder was originally released in the 2003 Ravnica: City of Guilds expansion as a staple of the Selesnya Conclave, representing the group's role in cultivating and guiding growth within the sprawling cityscape. It was later reprinted as part of the Eternal Masters set, a high-profile compilation designed specifically for the Legacy and Vintage formats to provide players with access to key utility cards that had become difficult to acquire.
The card’s illustration by Daren Bader depicts the creature as a sturdy, wood-formed sentinel, emphasizing the intersection of natural growth and urban infrastructure that defines the Ravnica plane. Its design—a simple creature that fetches a basic land card—has long been lauded by players for its efficiency and reliable utility in green-based decks, making it a functional cornerstone of card drafting environments and casual formats alike.
