Where it came from
Concordant Crossroads was originally released in the 1994 Legends expansion for Magic: The Gathering, designed by Richard Garfield to provide a powerful, low-cost green enchantment that grants all creatures haste. The card quickly became a staple in green-aligned decks for its ability to enable aggressive, immediate board presence, reflecting the high-variance and experimental design philosophy that defined the game's early years.
This specific iteration, numbered 2073, was released as part of the Secret Lair series, a line of premium, curated cards featuring alternative artwork. This version showcases an ethereal, stylized illustration by the artist Fiona Staples, whose work is known for clean lines and vibrant character-focused aesthetics. The release sought to reinterpret the classic, somewhat austere aesthetic of the original 1994 card through a modern artistic lens, and it was generally well-received by collectors for its aesthetic departure from the original printing.
