Provenance

Where it came from

Confirm Suspicions was originally released in the 2016 Magic: The Gathering expansion Shadows over Innistrad. The card was designed as a blue instant that reflects the set's gothic horror theme, centering on the act of investigation and uncovering hidden truths within the macabre, transforming landscape of the plane of Innistrad. Mechanically, it serves as both a counterspell and a generator for Clue tokens, emphasizing the set's new investigative mechanics.

The promotional version, bearing the collector number 53s, features unique art by Daarken. This variant was distributed as a participation reward for the set's release events. Daarken’s illustration captures the tension of a sudden revelation, utilizing sharp, angular lighting and a somber palette consistent with the horror-inspired aesthetic that defined the Shadows over Innistrad block and its focus on the psychological unraveling of the plane's inhabitants.
