Convenient Target // Convenient Target

The Convenient Target card from the Murders at Karlov Manor Art Series was released by Wizards of the Coast in early 2024 as part of a specialty product designed to highlight the illustrative talent behind the Magic: The Gathering set. This series features high-quality, borderless reproductions of the original card art, intended to showcase the aesthetic depth of the Ravnica-based murder mystery expansion. The series serves as a bridge between game utility and fine art, allowing collectors to appreciate the visual storytelling of the set away from the constraints of gameplay frames.

The illustration for Convenient Target was created by artist Livia Prima. In this piece, Prima leaned into the thematic gothic detective motifs prevalent throughout the Karlov Manor set, emphasizing atmospheric lighting and tension to convey the vulnerability of the subject. The work was well-received by the player base for its ability to distill the card's mechanical narrative of susceptibility into a compelling, standalone visual composition that anchors the set's identity.
