Crag Saurian

Crag Saurian was released in 1999 as part of the Mercadian Masques expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Set on the plane of Mercadia, a world defined by its unique socio-economic structures and goblin-led trade culture, the card reflects the set's focus on creature utility and the aesthetic shift toward the idiosyncratic, high-fantasy industrialism that characterized late-nineties Wizards of the Coast art direction.

The card’s illustration was provided by artist Greg Staples, whose work during this era often leaned into dramatic, high-contrast creature designs.
