Where it came from
Crumb and Get It was released in 2024 as part of the Bloomburrow set for Magic: The Gathering. The set is notable for its departure from traditional fantasy tropes, centering on a plane inhabited exclusively by anthropomorphic animals in a charming, pastoral setting known as Valley. This card was designed as a thematic food-focused enchantment, reflecting the set's emphasis on foraging, gathering, and the cozy cottagecore aesthetic that defined the Bloomburrow release.
The illustration was crafted to evoke the whimsical and rustic tone of the set, highlighting the resourcefulness of the small creatures inhabiting the world. Artists contributing to Bloomburrow were tasked with balancing the warmth of the storybook art style with the functional mechanics of the game. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players who appreciated its contribution to the 'Food' mechanic archetype and its contribution to the overall immersive world-building of the expansion.
